It’s possible to register as a new user. Click on make an account, fill in the form and choose a subscription and payment method.
You can reset your PIN code via the tablet screen. Choose “forgot PIN code” in the login screen, enter your username or email address and you will get a SMS with a new PIN code. You can also restore your PIN code at the login screen of your online account. Choose “forgot PIN code”, enter your email address and you will recieve an email with a link. Follow the link and choose a new PIN code.
It’s easy to log in. Just tap the screen to start and choose your language. Now enter your username and PIN code and click “Login” (button top right).
Yes, you can. Instead of typing your username and PIN code, you can login with your Travelcard (OV-chipkaart or other “chipcard”). To do so, you must associate your chipcard to your account. Start a trip and put the bike on it’s kickstand. Go to “My page” in the main menu, click the “Associate Travel Card” button on the right and put your chipcard on the top left corner. If succesful, your chipcard is ready for use. Just put the card on the top left corner during login to start a trip.
Please note: We use your Travel Card for login only, not for any payments.
You can rent a Gobike by simply logging in on the tablet screen with your username and PIN code and starting your ride. Returning a Gobike is easy. Just place the bike in a free dockingpoint. Placed correctly, you will hear a clicking sound. After this, the tablet screen wil show the text “trip is ended” and calculate trip costs. Please note, when the dockingstation is full, you can place your Gobike next to the station without extra costs. Choose “return bike” and in the main menu and follow the instructions to do so.
A subscription costs €15 (one-off registration fee), plus €0.03 per minute cycling. Parking during a trip is possible for €0.01 per minute. Returning the bikes is possible at any Gobike dockingstation.
You can pay by using iDeal (pay online through your own bank) and soon by creditcard. You can see and pay your invoices at your own online Gobike account. In due time, it will will probably be possible to pay by using your “OV-chip card” or other means of payment (for instance the RET or Waterbus systems).
Users sometimes get blocked (temporarily), which means they cannot use the bikes anymore. Reason is often an unpaid invoice. If you have questions about this and/or want to reactivate your account: Send an email to support and we will sort things out for you. Tip: Check whether you can log in to your online account. If so, the ban has allready been lifted.
You can take a Gobike with you on the Waterbus. Do not forget to put the Gobike on its bikestand and lock the bike, so you pay the reduced tariff for parking.

Our sharebikes are suited for a wide group of users, like tourists, commuters and all people living and working in Rotterdam. And for companies, who can offer Gobikes to their employees.
In 2017 we start with about 50 bikes in 6 dockingstations (2 are allready realised, 4 will be added soon). This autumn we will add more dockingstations and more bikes. We expect to grow to about 150 dockingstations in the next years, in the city of Rotterdam, at Park and Rides, in the harbour area and other cities nearby.
Gobike will look for locations that are popular with our users. Also, we will add more payment methodes. Cyclists of the online bike community “fietsfan010” will be able to share their experiences with us. Furthermore, we are looking into the possibility of making a special offer to clients of RET and Waterbus as an introduction.
The bikes will be placed in dockingstations at museums and other places of interest, at public transport locations (RET, Waterbus) and other places where many people travel to. Placing Gobikes at companies is also a possibility. These locations will be announced as soon as the City of Rotterdam has approved the plans.
Gobike offers a complete mobility service. The bikes are only a small part of the whole mobility system. The price per bike therefore is not a decisive factor. The fact that Gobike have electric pedal assist and internet and other services on their tablets, makes the bikes suited for a wider audience. The resulting costs per service are relatively low.
The Gobikes are strong and very well built. Stealing (parts of the) bikes will not result in economic gain, because they will not be usable after removal. Removed parts will be either broken or technically not fitted for any other bike.
The built-up area of Rotterdam has a lot of open space, which makes the city suitable for our dockingstations. Rotterdam has always been a city of cars. Therefore it has a relatively large group of potential cyclists. The City of Rotterdam has a good long term vision, expressed in the “Fietsplan”. In that vision cycling gets priority as a sustainable form of transport and a solution for mobility problems that Rotterdam faces. Furthermore, Rotterdam knows how to handle problems and realize sustainable development based on technological innovation. From the start, Gobike and the City of Rotterdam have always been on the same page in this project. The cooperation has been pleasant and professional.
